Workplace romance or the affectionate display of love at work occurs when two personnel of a business, whether employees in an office or on a shop floor, get romantically involved with one another.

Dating coworker may lead to long-term relationships and even marriage, but they may also put the people involved and their co-workers in awkward circumstances.
There are several stories of successful working partnerships. However, for every successful office relationship, there are at least as many that have had terrible repercussions.

According to Forbes,89% of workers admit being attracted to a co-worker and 58% admitted to dating a co-worker in the past.  It is not that office romance is awful; in fact, it is quite the opposite. However, many organizations frown on romantic connections between co-workers.

However, much as with love at work in general, people have differing viewpoints, with some lamenting the unpleasantness of breakups when they occur. Office romances that go wrong can cause not just emotional agony for one or both principals involved, but also productivity losses that have a direct impact on the organization.

However, if a pair spends an excessive amount of time at work pursuing each other, office romances that go marvellously well can have the same negative influence on a company’s financial line.

Things To Consider Before Entering Into A Love Relationship At Work.

Examine the company’s policies on office relationships.
Many firms have policies prohibiting employees from dating co-workers, vendors, clients, or suppliers, or demand certain disclosures, so check before you start dating. Follow the rules and attempt to understand why they are in place.
Your human resources department may need you to sign a contract, notify supervisors or co-workers, or follow other guidelines or standards, depending on the organization.

Office romance is inevitable at many companies when unmarried people work closely together. But colleagues who are dating should find out what their company’s policy and regulations are on workplace romance so they can avoid improper or embarrassing consequences.

It should not be concealed.
It is critical, to be honest with your co-workers and supervisor about the relationship. Make sure your boss is one of the first people to know, and with the relationship out in the open, it is simpler to not allow it to affect your job performance.
However, if you do not follow your company’s dating policy after disclosing your relationship, you may face disciplinary action, including termination.

Define the limits.
Despite human resources permission, you and your partner are not partners at work. You are both co-workers. Make every effort to dispel the notion that your boyfriend or girlfriend is being treated differently because of your relationship.
No public display of affection. That will just make your co-workers feel uneasy. Work should be your priority; separate your two lives as much as possible.

Prepare for the worst-case scenario.
Agree on how you will manage a probably split at the start of the relationship. Avoid a tumultuous breakup.
It is essential to consider the risk, of which there are many. Of course, there is a danger that the relationship could fail and that one or both parties will be disappointed.

Consider quitting your job.
Love compromises. If yours is genuine, serious love, you two should have a serious dialogue about one of you looking for new employment to preserve your work ethics.
